New Magrunner Screenshots Released

magrunner-header

Developed by 3AM (Frogwares), Magrunner is an action/reflection game based on the use of physics, magnetism, and the Cthulhu. Intrigued yet?

A first-person shooter that combines action, Portal style physics-based puzzles, and HP Lovecraft’s Cthulu mythos all set in a futuristic cyberpunk universe. Developed on Unreal Engine 3, the game’s story begins in 2050 and takes place in a big sports competition broadcast through the entire world, intended to promote a new technology based on magnetism called Magtech Glove. As expected, the competition takes a turn for the worse when an earthquake causes a power outage and isolates the competitors from the rest of the world.

Our hero Yoshi is equipped with this special glove that interacts with the new magnetic technology and enables him to journey through more and more spectacular rooms by charging various objects and elements of the environment with magnetic forces that attract or repel other objects. His only hope is to finish the course and attempt to contact the exterior world. But the challenge rooms that separate him from the finish grow more and more menacing and a long descent into a dangerous parallel universe.

Much like last year’s Quantum Conundrum and Gateways, it seems like this game will certainly take cues from Portal in more ways than one. There’s no release information available just yet, but you can expect Magrunner to be available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 sometime in Q2. In the meantime, check out the sweet artwork below and the latest screenshots.
