Gaijin Games’ Runner2 Dashes Onto Consoles
Gaijin Games’ Alex Neuse and Mike Roush tell Joystiq about the upcoming dates and prices for Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien. The first Runner was part of the original Bit.Trip series that started winning hearts and minds on WiiWare a few years ago, marrying rhythm and platforming mechanics with a purposefully stripped down 8-bit visual style. The basic mechanics seem similar in Runner2, but the series’ aesthetic has seen a major overhaul.
“The style change up … a little bit of it was story-driven. A little bit of it was, we were working on ‘Bit. Trip’ for so many years that we wanted to expand our wings a little bit.” explained Mike Roush, co-founder of Gaijin Games.
CommanderVideo will arrive this week on the Wii U (Feb. 26th) and XBLA (Feb. 27th). The PSN version is set to release on March 5th, with the Vita version planned for a Summer release. No word on if these versions will utilize the Cross-Buy/Save functionality but each version will be priced at $14.99, no matter what platform.
