Guacamelee! Piledrives onto PS3 and Vita in April
Guacamelee!, the highly anticipated game from developer DrinkBox Studios (Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack), has finally been given a release date. Launching simultaneously on April 9th for PlayStation 3 and Vita, Guacamelee! will utilize the “Cross-Buy” and “Cross-Save” feature.
I first had my taste of Guacamelee! (no pun intended) on the expo floor of NYC Comic-Con and I instantly fell in love with the “Metroidvania” style gameplay and the colorful presentation. The game is set in a magical world inspired by traditional Mexican culture and folklore, and features a down on his luck Mexican named Juan Aguacate, who sets out to save the world when El Presidente’s Daughter is kidnapped by an Evil Charro Skeleton. Along the way, Juan will travel through alternate dimensions including “The World of the Dead” and “The World of Nightmares” on his quest to rescue the girl he loves.
As for the co-op in Guacamelee! that sees main character, Juan, teaming up with Tostata throughout the entire single player, it will only be available locally on the PS3. The Vita can also be used as a controller if synced with the PS3, in either solo or co-op play, allowing access to a mini-map on the screen at all times. And for you trophy junkies, Guacamelee! offers the elusive Platinum trophy.
Guacamelee! will be priced at $14.99. For more info, check out the official website.
