Capcom Isn’t Bringing RE: Revelations To The Vita Because..
Apparently size does matter, well at least in the eyes of Capcom product manager Mike Lunn it does. With the recent announcement of Resident Evil: Revelations making its way onto the home consoles within the next few months, gamers began to question the lack of support for a PS Vita version.
Responding to a comment querying the lack of a Vita port on the PlayStation Blog, Lunn stated, “When we were developing Revelations for new platforms we really wanted to hone in on the experience you get with a large format screen, surround sound, etc. This type of setup really helps players get sucked into the horror vibe and enjoy the game to its fullest extent.”
That’s is an somewhat acceptable answer, except for how Revelations was initially made for the 3DS and its not-so-large screens and sub-par audio. Lunn went on to address that in another comment.
“3DS and PS-vita infrastructure let alone developing games for them are extremely different beasts,” Lunn noted. “Even just the screens as you mention are completely different resolutions/functions.”
In the end, it looks like the Vita is once again going to be left in the cold without a Resident Evil game compared to two on its rival handheld. But that doesn’t mean that we can’t expect some type of port to be delivered on the Vita sometime in the future. If we’ve learned anything about the way Capcom runs their business its that they are not afraid of repeatedly releasing the same title with minor enhancements. How many versions of Resident Evil 4 have we seen?
