PlayStation NYC 2013: Killzone: Shadow Fall
During yesterday’s Sony event, developer Guerrilla Games revealed the PS4 launch title Killzone: Shadow Fall.
Shadow Fall is set thirty years after the events of Killzone 3 and features a new hero. The two rifting factions from the previous Killzone titles, the Helghast and the Vektans, live alongside each other in a city divided by a wall.
“Tensions are high, and the cold war they are embroiled in is about to go hot,” game director, Steven ter Heide said in a statement. “In the midst of this all stands a Shadow Marshal, you. The most special of the special forces, tasked with maintaining the delicate balance.”
The demo entered us in Vekta City, a futuristic vibrant city. After two minutes there’s an explosion and everything goes all grey and smoky while you squint through familiar iron sights at glowing red eyes while hunkering down behind cover. It appeared very in-line with Killzone’s gameplay, with the return of the cover system and a slow-motion function.
Shadow Fall looks like a beautiful game, but with Sony’s track record when it comes to the showing previews based on the Killzone series, we are unsure if all the gameplay shown was in-game or a combination of in-game and CGI.
We’ve added the debut trailer and screenshots below. You be the judge.
